Overview & Responsibilities:
CBS News 24/7 -- our signature national news stream -- is seeking an experienced Associate Producer who is prepared to set the agenda for a new national newscast! We need someone to be the backbone of the CBS stream's 24/7 promise, offering breaking news from around the world, best-in-class storytelling, on-the-ground reporting, and a behind-the-scenes look at how coverage comes together. We use innovative AR/VR technology to improve the experience, providing context, transparency, and accuracy.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: - Write compelling, succinct, clear news scripts under tight deadlines for broadcast and digital platforms.
- Write content according to station policies, editorial style and rundown.
- Research and evaluate news stories and sources.
- Video editing of content for news broadcasts using Edius/Grass Valley system.
- Assist in the producing of news segments and breaking news special reports.
- Exercise sound news judgment and align with CBS Streamβs 24/7 editorial standards.
Basic Qualifications: - At least 3 years of experience writing television news.
- Experience on INEWS/ENPS or equivalent news computer system.
- Ability to work in a team atmosphere and incorporate editorial feedback.
- Must possess excellent production and management skills.
Additional Qualifications: - Related College degree and/or equivalent preferred.
- Ability to create clear, compelling, succinct news stories from raw materials including: unedited video, reporter notes, desk notes, telephone interviews, and wire copy.
- The demonstrated ability to attract and hold viewers with compelling teases.
- Writing style that is straightforward, uses active voice and is conversational.
- Keen eye for detail including, spelling, fact checking, balance and fairness.
- Experience working with video editing systems.
- Familiarity with news feed services like CBS Newspath.
- Ability to respond rapidly and effectively to breaking news.
This is a position covered under the Collective Bargaining Agreement with the WGA-E.
