Job Description

Purpose

Lead cross-functional Publication Teams in the development and execution of global strategic publication plans for assigned Oncology assets. Ensure publication plans align with Medical Affairs plans, gap assessments, and or scientific platforms or narratives, as applicable. Oversee medical publications vendors and internal medical writers supporting publication tactics (including but not limited to manuscripts, abstracts, posters, and oral presentations) from initiation to publication/presentation. Represent Global Scientific Publications and asset Publication Teams on other cross-functional teams. Maintain budget oversight and management for assigned assets.

Responsibilities

  1. Serve as the Lead on cross-functional Publication Teams for assigned assets, including leading team meetings/discussions, driving development and execution of strategic publication plans, and involving and interacting with key global stakeholders, as applicable.
  2. Lead tactical execution of publication plans (including but not limited to manuscripts, abstracts, posters, and oral presentations), meeting established timelines and budgets.
  3. Review publications in development for assigned assets to ensure quality and alignment with any established plans or guidance documents (e.g., Scientific Communication Platform, Medical Affairs Plan, lexicon, etc).
  4. Work with the Scientific Communications function to ensure incorporation of publications in appropriate deliverables (e.g., congress compendia).
  5. Partner with Publications Associate Director to forecast and manage outsourcing budget and internal resource needs for assigned assets.
  6. Provide direction and managerial oversight to vendors and internal medical writers regarding assigned projects, ensuring high-quality and timely deliverables that adhere to Publication Policy and associated procedures.
  7. Address and resolve publications-related issues for assigned assets.
  8. Ensure project information is complete, accurate and up to date in publication records and resourcing tools.
  9. As applicable to the asset, liaise with licensing partner in planning and execution of publication strategy and key deliverables.

Qualifications

  1. Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree required. PhD/PharmD preferred.
  2. CMPP credential, experience with iEnvision/Datavision and SmartSheet preferred.
  3. 4-5 years of medical/scientific publications experience in the pharmaceutical industry or related (e.g., medical communication agency) required.
  4. Oncology experience preferred.
  5. Ability to understand and interpret medical data, with general knowledge of statistical concepts and techniques.
  6. Familiarity with regulations, requirements, guidelines and industry best practices that apply to the development of scientific publications: provide guidance as needed to cross-functional and global stakeholders.
  7. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with demonstrated success in creating and delivering effective presentations to senior-level audiences.
  8. Possess collaborative teamwork and leadership skills; capable of building successful relationships cross-functionally and globally.
  9. Demonstrated success leading cross-functional Publication Teams in all aspects of strategic publication planning and tactical plan execution while maintaining timelines and budgets, ensuring incorporation of input from key stakeholders, and strategic alignment with other cross-functional plans and initiatives.
  10. Solution-oriented, with a keen eye to foresee and address potential publication-related issues, or mediate solutions when issues occur.
