The CMO will play a crucial role in working closely with our team of exceptional primary care physicians across our 6 offices. Private Medical is physician-founded and physician-owned.Job Overview :The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) will be responsible for overseeing and working closely with Private Medical's team of 30+ physicians. The CMO will drive alignment, consistency, performance management, and professional development across the physician group. The CMO will collaborate with cross-functional leaders throughout the organization to ensure high-quality patient experiences and smooth team operations. Specifically, the CMO will work with each clinical team to identify and synthesize best practices from around the organization, and then collaborate with our Clinical and Operations teams to create and improve policies, procedures, training and coaching resources.We seek to achieve greater consistency and use of best practices for introducing new team members, conducting regular and productive team meetings, utilizing electronic health records, and communicating internally and externally.In addition to their attention to clinical team performance, the CMO will be responsible for overseeing the physician recruiting and hiring processes, and engaging top talent nationally. Further, they will manage the overall physician experience, including ongoing training, education, and community building (i.e., physician calls and retreats). Externally, they will support the continued building and cultivation of our extensive network of over 4,000 external specialist relationships. The CMO will report directly to Private Medicalβs CEO.Qualifications :License: Active MD license in at least one of our operating states (CA, NY, or FL)Experience: experience as a primary care physician and a minimum of 15 years of clinical and organizational leadership experienceProven people management experience, including development and performance managementExcellent problem-solving, communication, and writing skillsComfortable working independently as well as collaborating with functional stakeholders (Operations, HR, etc.) across the organizationFamiliarity with EHRs and latest medical innovationsPreferred location is SF Bay Area (open to LA or NYC); expectation of frequent travel to our 6 sites to directly interface with physicians and onsite clinical teamsResponsibilities and Duties :Lead PM Physician Group as their direct people managerBuild camaraderie, culture, and esprit de corps among physician groupAlign physician goals with the organizationβs expectations and long-term goals.Help identify strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities for developmentFacilitate annual physician reviews (including upward and peer feedback)Provide feedback, oversee development plans, and drive accountabilityManage employee relations and conflict resolution initiativesOptimize clinical performance across teams and sitesDevelop standards collaboratively with departmental leadership and physicians, and implement these across sitesCollaborate to develop operational and clinical protocolsSurface needs from sites, physicians, and teamsDrive appropriate levels of consistency across teamsFind and share the most effective methodsSupport identification, evaluation, and implementation of new clinical technology and innovationsWork in partnership with the physician group and senior management to set & execute strategic prioritiesUnderstand the needs and initiatives of physicians and support integration with other departmentsUnderstand the needs and initiatives of other departments and support integration with physiciansOversee physician recruiting, onboarding, and training and mentoringIn partnership with the Talent Acquisition team, actively manage physician hiring across all sites, continue to build talent pools, and maintain relationships for prospective hiresEnsure consistency in process with prospective hires (expectations, job descriptions, compensation)Develop and implement physician onboarding and training practices, to ensure quality of care, comfort with PM systems, and consistency with PM standardsBuild relationships with hospital leaders, top specialists, and ER/urgent care providers across PM markets to support PM specialist referrals and expedited access, as well as drive incremental primary care membership referrals to PMCollaborate with PM Physicians, Operations Managers, and Business Development in cultivating specialist relationships
