Marketing Specialist-Arcata-Closes 12/26/2025
SUMMARY:
The Marketing Specialist is primarily responsible for the development, coordination, packaging/design and dissemination of information about United Indian Health Services, Inc. (UIHS), to patients, community members, other tribal health programs, funding agencies, tribal organizations, and interested parties, communicating information by means of visual materials, printed materials, brochures, exhibits, presentation, newsletters, website, internet, social media, fundraising and other communication media. The Specialist is responsible for the development, design, coordination, and maintenance of the organization’s website, intranet site, and other social media means of communication such as Facebook, Twitter, Instragram, etc.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Produces publications, brochures, and news releases to define the corporate identity to employees, customers and the broader community.
* Participates in marketing projects for the organization. Works closely with management to ensure marketing strategies are implemented and evaluated.
* Designs and updates organizational brochures, marketing materials, and presentation materials in consultation with authors, editors and program directors in order to obtain ideas and suggestions to develop mutual understanding of the objectives and the ways in which the information is presented.
* Responsible for the timely production of the UIHS Acorn basket Newsletter production scheduling, and distribution, on a bi-monthly (every two months) basis.
* Responsible for developing and communicating press releases and organizing news conferences for CEO or the Board of Directors.
* Works with the Executive Leadership to implement a long-range plan to increase membership and continually update the materials.
* Organizes and coordinates advertising opportunities.
* Create informational books for UIHS events; including but not limited to UIHS Annual Meeting, Annual Awards Ceremony, and other important business needs.
* Develops standard procedures for communications/marketing/website/intranet operational needs.
* Prepares written materials as requested/appropriate and review documentation for correct spelling, grammatical language, appropriate reading level, reading ease, etc.
* Attends meetings, conferences, workshops, Board and Committee meetings as requested/authorized in order to carry out the responsibilities described herein.
* Assist with special projects.
* Maintains and updates the existing UIHS website and program websites utilizing a complex mixture of web technologies.
* Provides staff support in maintenance of the Intranet and website backup.
* Works in coordination with UIHS staff in the development of new pages, features, and links to the site.
* Develops video and audio materials for business needs.
* Responsible for registration of the UIHS website with search engines, directories, and serves as the point of contact for the hosting and billing functions.
* Responsible for auditing and scanning programs associated with the web site.
* Maintains a professional organized clean working environment by following organizational policies, guidelines, and safety standards.
* Assists in development of departmental policy, procedures, and quality improvement activities within the clinic as directed.
* Attends department staff meetings and other meetings as assigned.
* Must be willing to learn more about the American Indian culture and attend at least one Cultural Presentation/Training per year.
* Must be willing to work with American Indian/Alaska Native people and demonstrate cultural awareness and humility
* Must be willing to deliver services in a culturally responsive manner.
* Adheres to accreditation and compliance standards/guideline
* Other duties may be assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
* This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Educational degrees must be from a US Department of Education accredited school
* Bachelor’s degree (B.A) in marketing, communications, graphic design, art or other related field
or
* Associate's degree (A.A.) and a minimum of two years demonstrated experience in web development, design, or development of marketing materials.
* Knowledge of desktop publishing and print production.
* Must possess demonstrated expertise in Adobe Creative Suite, InDesign, Wordpress, HTML, Adobe Dreamweaver, Flash, CRM, and SharePoint.
* Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills, a team player, self-starter, multi-task oriented.
COMPUTER OPERATIONS:
* Proficient computer skills and knowledge.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
* Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
* Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
* Ability to effectively present information to staff, management, consultants, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
* Excellent communication skills.
