About The Ruth Theater
The Ruth Theater is committed to producing exceptional theatrical experiences while developing artists of all ages through professional productions, education, and community engagement. We believe in artistic excellence, collaboration, integrity, and creating an environment where stories come to life through world-class productions and meaningful artistic experiences.
About the Role
This is a well-rounded generalist marketing role covering digital marketing, social media, PR, and community event marketing for The Ruth and Nathan Hale Theater. You'll coordinate closely with the Managing Director to help shape strategic marketing initiatives while also owning the day-to-day logistics that bring them to life. This includes driving community events and PR, content creation, managing paid and earned media, and building relationships with press, influencers, and community partners.
We're looking for someone genuinely well-rounded β a versatile marketer who loves the arts, understands and champions the theater's brand, and is comfortable moving between content creation, budget-driven ad management, and relationship-based outreach. This role requires strong organization skills and the ability to prioritize across a range of responsibilities week to week.
Key Responsibilities
Digital Advertising
Set up, launch, and monitor digital ad campaigns on Google Ads, Meta Ads Manager, and YouTube
Set up and maintain analytics tracking and reporting dashboards (Google Analytics, Looker Studio, or similar) to give leadership clear, ongoing visibility into ad performance
Manage ad budgets and pacing; report on cost-per-result, reach, and ROI by campaign
Negotiate, manage, and renew billboard/outdoor advertising contracts and creative rotations
Social Media
Own the overall social media calendar and growth strategy across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, YouTube, and LinkedIn by setting goals and reporting monthly on reach and engagement
Collate and curate posts from the theater's existing asset library into a cohesive, on-brand posting schedule. This includes rehearsal photos, production photography, show trailers, and branded graphics.
Supplement curated assets with original short-form video content, shooting and editing by attending rehearsals, tech, and performances
Create and post day-to-day story content that keeps the account active between major posts
Actively engage with followers by responding to comments and DMs
Identify and manage show social media captains, reviewing content before it goes live
Identify and manage social media collaborations and cross-promotions with partner accounts
Plan and run giveaways and contests, including entry rules, winner selection, and prize fulfillment
PR & Communications
Build and maintain a PR calendar covering press releases, media pitches, and promotional windows for each production
Write and distribute press releases and media kits
Secure and coordinate TV spots and on-air appearances, including scheduling talent and prepping talking points
Serve as day-to-day point of contact for press inquiries
Community Event Marketing
Drive the strategy for community events (farmers markets, parades, outreach days), coordinating logistics with the community advocacy team and theater staff
Source, brief, and coordinate collaborations with local influencers for shows and community appearances
Identify and pursue new community partnership and cross-promotion opportunities
What Success Looks Like
Steady month-over-month growth in social following and engagement
A press calendar that consistently lines up media coverage with on-sale dates and major performance initiatives
Digital ad spend that meets or beats target cost-per-result benchmarks, with billboard contracts renewed on schedule
Community events and influencer collaborations that reliably generate new audience touchpoints and usable content
Qualifications
Hands-on experience running paid campaigns in Google Ads and Meta Ads Manager
2β4 years of marketing experience, with additional background in at least one of: social media, PR, or community/event marketing
Strong writing skills for press releases, pitches, and social copy
Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage many concurrent priorities
Comfortable working evenings/weekends around a live performance schedule
Reliable transportation for offsite community events
Preferred (Not Required)
Strong short-form content creation skills
Experience in theater, live events, or arts administration
Existing relationships with local media, influencers, or community organizations
Basic graphic design skills (Canva, Adobe Express, or similar)
Experience with Google Analytics or similar reporting tools
